After his career takes a plummet after a scandal, renowned magician Cameron Black decides to offer his skills to the FBI, with a thought of helping them solve cases. Partnered with Kay Daniels, they both help tackle crime, despite Kay being reluctant. The first season also sees Black secretly trying to help his twin brother Jonathan out of jail, after being framed for murder.

Five minutes into Deception sees Cameron being unemployable after a scandal takes place. A scandal which foresees his twin brother being imprisoned unjustly, and now Cameron has to work his way out and get Jonathan out of prison. As a result, Cameron and his team of diverse assistants including Justin Jordan, Lenora Crichlow’s, Dina and Vinnie also remain unemployed. However, all these changes when Cameron is glued to the TV set watching coverage of an aviation explosion which had thwarted an FBI investigation and he heads on to reiterate how whoever had masterminded the explosion was an illusionist! In the nick of time, Cameron has already made his way into the crime scene and announces to the FBI that their plane had disappeared, and not exploded as they had earlier on perceived! Shocking as it may seem, Cameron heads on to explain to the FBI team of Amaury Nolasco’s (Agent Alvarez) and IIfenesh Hadera’s (Agent Daniels), the illusion that had made the plane disappear. Alvarez happens to be a huge fan of Cameron’s work, whilst Daniel’s, on the other hand, claims to hate magic. That earns Cameron a position with the FBI and heads on to help them handle crime alongside his own team while trying to bail his brother, Jonathan out.
