Donald Trump and North Korea

On June 12, 2018, the world was shaken when US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un shook hands in Singapore! This marked a historical moment as it was the first time ever a sitting US president and the leader of North Korea met.

President Trump further reiterated that he and Kim are going to have a terrific relationship as he sat for the cameras. This came as a surprise to many as it was not long ago when the two had been verbally sparring for a couple of months, and even went ahead threatening to wreck a havoc of destruction! President Trump also added that it was an honor, to shake hands with the North Korean leader.

On the other hand, Kim Jong Un in response said that it had not been easy to get where they were, citing that there were obstacles but they managed to overcome them in order to get where they were; to shaking hands. The handshake saw President Trump hinting at a potential document signing, although the consequences of what that would mean were still unclear.

With the leaders emerging from a working lunch strolling together down a paved walkway before stopping and posing in front of the eager media, Mr. Trump said that the meeting is going great and that they had a really fantastic meeting, adding that there has been a lot of progress!

Renowned for awkward handshaking with world leaders, many had faith that Trump’s handshake with Kim will lead to long-lived peace on the greater peninsula of Korea.
